토요타가 이번 리콜 위기를 극복하기 위해서 워싱턴DC의 종합 커뮤니케이션 펌인 The Glover Park Group을 고용했다고 월스트리트 저널이 보도했었다.
이 회사의 서비스 구조를 보니 언론에서 이야기 하듯 로비펌이라기 보다는 커뮤니케이션 펌이라는 분류가 더 적절할 듯 하다. 일반 PR회사들에서 제공하는 많은 거의 모든 서비스들이 제공되고 있다.
주목할만한 것은 클린턴 정부 때 백악관 대변인을 역임했던 Joe Lockhart가 President 직책을 맞고 있다는 것과 같은 정부하에서 정책 및 커뮤니케이션 시니어 어드바이저를 지냈던 Joel Johnson이 파트너로 재직하고 있다는 점 때문에 이번 고용이 로비적인 목적이 강하지 않느냐 해석하고 있는 듯 하다. (하원 청문회 대비 포함)
이 회사 프랙티스를 보면 이슈관리와 위기 커뮤니케이션, 언론관계들이 포함되어 있는 것으로 보아 위기관리 부분의 자문과 실행도 어느정도 강점을 가지고 있는 듯 하다.

워싱턴 DC의 시장 분위기상 행정부와 입법부 그리고 사법부에 대한 어프로치가 강한 펌들이 경쟁을 하는 구도인데, 이번 토요타가 특별히 GPG를 고용한 이유가 궁금하다. 이와 더불어 GPG가 기획 실행할 앞으로의 프로그램들이 기대된다.
2009년 기준으로 GPG는 매출액 기준 미국 로비 펌 20위에도 들지 못한다.
