[감사] 양깡님으로부터의 칭찬

양깡님께서 최근 블로그를 통해 진행되는 릴레이에서 포스팅 한 부분에 나에 대한 ‘칭찬’을 올려 주셨다.

이 글을 가만히 들여다보면서…

내 스스로 사람이 나이가 먹어감에 따라 참 칭찬에 익숙하지 못하다는 생각을 하게 된다. 칭찬을 받는 횟수나 깊이도 희박해 질 뿐더러…남을 칭찬하는데도 그렇게 인색해 질 수가 없다. 하다못해 하나 밖에 없는 딸 아이에게도 이 아빠는 잔소리의 소스이지 매력적인 칭찬의 소스가 되지 못한다.

양깡님께서 전해주신 칭찬의 힘을 받아서 오늘 집에 가면 딸 아이에게 칭찬을 하나 해 주기로 결심했다. 먼저 좁은 사무실에 나와 같이 새로운 비지니스를 준비하고 있는 Sean과 Sammie에게도 칭찬 하나씩 던져야겠다. (그러고 보니 Strategy Salad의 S+S들이군)

Boutique의 정의

지난 주말 양깡님과 만나 압구정에서 커피한잔을 했다. 이런 저런 이야기를 하다가 양깡님이 “새로 시작하시는 사업에 부티크(Boutique)라는 명칭을 붙이신 것 같던데 그게 무슨 뜻이죠?”라고 물었다.

“백화점하고 그냥 전문샵하고의 차이”라고 간단하게 말씀드렸지만…부티크에 대한 이해 부분에서는 아주 개운하지는 않아 보인다.

  • A boutique, from the French word for “shop,” is a small shopping outlet, especially one that specializes in elite and fashionable items such as clothing and jewelry.
  • It can also refer to a specialised firm such as a boutique investment bank or boutique law firm.
  • The word is often used to describe a property in the independent section of the hotel market (such as The Rockwell in London) in order to distinguish themselves from larger chains (such as Hilton Hotels). In such cases the idea is that the operation is elite and highly specialised.
  • In the strictest sense of the word, boutiques would be one-of-a-kind
    but more generally speaking, some chains can be referred to as
    boutiques if they specialize in particularly stylish offerings (such as
    New York City boutique shoe store Alife Rivington Club).
  • Recently, the term “boutique” has started being applied to
    normally-mass-market items that are either niche or produced in
    intentionally small numbers at very high prices. This may be referred
    to as boutique manufacturing.

양깡님의 이해를 100% 돕자면…독립 전문 병원이라는 비유가 정확하지 않나 한다. 종합병원과 대비해서. 만약 의료사업 쪽과 다른게 있다면 PR업계 그 ‘종합병원’들은 전문 과목들이 모여있는 실제 종합병원과는 달리 일반의들이 모여 대부분 공통적으로 감기환자들만 본다는 게 조금 다르겠다.
